Introduction to CAS

Today we were introduced to CAS. The Creativity, action and service component of the IB program. I find this a very interesting way to expose students to different aspects of life we eill have to eventually face once we get into the world of university. It also helps us establish relationships with the people around us and makes us more aware of what is happenning in our surrounding. CAS consisted of 50 hours prior to this year, so once you've completed 50 hours you can sit back and concentrate on the other IB requirements like the Extended Essay and TOK along with multiple IAs. But this year we were told that we are required to do 3-4 hours of cas each week untill the end of our two years. This builds a sense of commitment to the things we choose to do and boosts our notion of responsibility. However I do find that it will be very hectic during our second year with all the deadlines and presentations as we will still have to do CAS hours.
